Japan G2 2026 Autumn introduces a 3-to-1 selection rule

Takara Tomy has announced a 256-player Japan G2 on 15 November 2026. Early rounds use a new 3-to-1 format: show up to three Beys, then choose one for the full match.

How the 3-to-1 format works

For rounds one through six, each player may pass inspection with up to three Beys. Duplicate parts are generally prohibited across those Beys, including different colours of the same part. Before the match, both players reveal their available Beys and then choose one simultaneously. That selected Bey must be used for the entire first-to-four-points match.

Stadium and finals format

Round one uses the Infinity Stadium. Round two onward uses the Xtreme Stadium. The special 3-to-1 format runs until the top four are decided; the semifinals and final switch to the regular 3-on-3 format, still played to four points.

Date, entry and regional relevance

The event is scheduled in Tokyo on 15 November 2026 with a maximum field of 256 players. Applications run from 6 to 18 October, and eligibility is limited to Japan residents aged six or older. The entry fee is ¥3,000.

Takara Tomy says this format is special to this event and has not announced it for other official tournaments. It therefore does not change current Malaysia or Taiwan event rules. Local players can study the selection idea, but should follow each local notice rather than treating 3-to-1 as a new regional standard.

Questions about this update

Can Malaysia or Taiwan players enter this G2?

The official entry requirements limit applications to Japan residents aged six or older.

Do players battle with all three Beys in 3-to-1?

No. Players reveal up to three inspected Beys, select one simultaneously, and use only that Bey for the full first-to-four-points match.

Does this rule now apply to Malaysia G2 or G3 events?

No change has been announced for Malaysia. Takara Tomy describes 3-to-1 as a special rule for this Japan event, so players must follow each local event notice.
